Allendale-Waldwick Local hams it up to help northern New Jersey families

During the second week of December, Allendale-Waldwick Local 217 members helped their community by donating $1,000 worth of spiral hams to the Center for Food Action in Mahwah.

The CFA works to provide northern New Jersey’s most vulnerable populations with resources like food, housing and utility assistance. It’s one of the bigger organizations in the region, which is why Local 217 has been assisting during the holidays for at least 10 years.

“We’re very fortunate to do what we do, and we work in an affluent area, but you don’t realize how many people are still in need,” says Local 217 Delegate Vinny Rizzo. “It’s a very simple gesture that goes a long way.”

Rizzo says they will continue to work with the CFA next year in hopes of making sure every local family in need has a ham on the table for their holiday celebration.
